Legendary Ga Music Icon Naa Amanua passes away

Ghana's music industry has been plunged into mourning following the passing of Mary Naa Amanua Dodoo, affectionately known as Naa Amanua, a legendary figure in Ga traditional music and folklore.

Naa Amanua, whose extraordinary voice and artistry earned her national acclaim, was best known as the lead female vocalist of Wulomei, the iconic Ga music group founded in 1973. Her unique sound and soul-stirring performances played a pivotal role in preserving and promoting indigenous Ghanaian music, making her a revered cultural treasure.

Throughout her illustrious career, Naa Amanua's contribution to Ghanaian music remained unparalleled.

Confirming her passing on social media, veteran musician and GHAMRO Chairman, Rex Omar, shared his heartfelt condolences, acknowledging the profound loss to the nation. "Ghana has lost a true icon. Naa Amanua’s voice and spirit will forever live on through her music," he stated.

Her work with Wulomei and her lifelong efforts to preserve Ga traditions will remain etched in history as a beacon of Ghanaian cultural pride.
