Rita Edochie condemns Pawpaw death rumours

Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, has expressed anger and frustration over recurring death rumours about her colleague, Osita Iheme, popularly known as “Pawpaw” in the industry.

In an Instagram post, Rita revealed that this is the second time she has encountered false reports about Pawpaw circulating on social media. She lamented that some fans believed the rumours and even commented “RIP” on posts.

“This rumour has come up before. A couple of days ago, it came up for the second time… Crazy netizens believed the fake gist and began commenting RIP on themselves,” she wrote.

Edochie also criticised the misuse of social media, emphasising that while it has created opportunities for many youths, its abuse—such as spreading fake news—has caused significant harm to society.

The actress further shared her own experience, recounting how a photo of her from a movie set was once used to spread false information that she had died death.

Fans and colleagues have rallied behind Rita Edochie, condemning the spread of fake news and urging social media users to verify information before sharing it.
