Ghanaian Movie Producer Osewus speaks against DNA testing for older fathers

Celebrated movie producer and Kumasi-based businessman Erasmus Osei Owusu, often known as Osewus, made a daring statement recently published on Instagram by prominent Ghanaian blogger Fiifi Adinkra.

Osewus claimed that DNA testing is unnecessary, especially for fathers who are older than 50.

Osewus clarified that although DNA testing is important older fathers who have already formed strong connections with their children shouldn't be concerned about it.

He maintained that the introduction of DNA testing at this point may upend the family, having a detrimental impact on the father's well-being, the children's future, and the mental health of all those concerned.

Osewus counselled fathers to concentrate on developing strong bonds with their children rather than performing genetic testing. He underlined that meeting a child's needs and fulfilling their obligations is the real meaning of fatherhood, not having a biological relationship.

"The one who takes care of the son's responsibilities is the father, not the one whose sperm produced the child," he said.

Osewus: A Pillar in Ghana's Entertainment Industry

Osewus is a well-known figure in the entertainment industry, particularly in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He is credited with playing a pivotal role in the development and distribution of Ghanaian movies in the region.

Osewus is credited with over 100 successful productions, including Obi de3 Aba, Obaa Hemaa, Empress, Nyame Bekyere, and Total Cheat. These films have solidified his reputation as a key figure in the development and distribution of movies in Ghana.

Osewus completed his secondary education at Toase Senior Secondary School in 1993 before pursuing further studies in movie production and filmmaking. In 2004, he released "Obi De3 Aba," a film that topped all movie rankings in Ghana and featured top Ghanaian actors and actresses such as Nana Ama McBrown, Agya Koo, Mercy Asiedu, and Portia Asare Boateng.

Beyond his achievements in film, Osewus has also made a significant impact as a music producer and distributor. He produced the album "Nhyira" by Maame Joyce, which featured notable artists including Obaapa Christy.

In the year 2007, he released an album allstar, titled “Aseda” featuring SDA All Stars including Great Ampong, Mark Anim Yirenkyi, Young Missionaries.

Working with multiple award winning songwriter, Ofori Amponsah, Osewus produced some music videos for songs such as Kala, Damebi, and Broken Heart.

He has also worked on other notable projects like "Mafa Yesu Abno Nebo" by Evangelist Akwasi Nyarko and "Soe3 Nwom" by Bishop Michael Osei Bonsu.

Osewus caused a rift in 2008 for song credit recognition between Pastor Love, the former producer of Obaapa Christy, and the late Bishop Michael Osei Bonsu.

As a distributor, Osewus Ventures has become a household name having sales point and shops across the country, distributing works from famous Ghanaian artists such as Daddy Lumba, Okyeame Kwame, Obour, Kwaw Kese, Amakye Dede, and all Kaakyire Music production artists.

Osewus's influence in both the movie and music industries in Ghana is undeniable, and his recent comments on DNA testing have sparked a conversation that is likely to resonate with many.
