Ghanaian drill musician Yaw Tog says at just 20 years old, he has achieved more than most of his peers through his music career, label and charity work.
In a recent interview, the "Sore" hitmaker listed building his music career, founding his Tog Life record label and establishing the Tog Life Foundation to help the needy as major achievements at his young age.
"At 20, I have something very cherishable that most of my age mates don't have and I thank God for that. I have my music career, a record level known as Tog Life label...and I also have Tog Life Foundation which I use to help the needy," he said.
Yaw Tog, real name Thorsten Owusu Gyimah, burst onto the Ghanaian music scene in 2019 with his breakout hit "Sore" featuring O'Kenneth, City Boy, Reggies & Jay Bahd.
The song went viral and propelled him to national and international fame, leading to a remix featuring Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur and British-Ghanaian star Stormzy.
Since then, Yaw Tog has released several hit singles and bagged numerous awards nominations for 'Sore', winning Best Hiphop Song at the 2021 VGMAs.
Through his Tog Life Foundation, the young musician has also supported underprivileged communities by donating books, food and other supplies.
While acknowledging his relative youth and inexperience compared to older musicians, Yaw Tog believes the strides he has made so far in his career and philanthropy are commendable achievements for a 20-year-old.
