‘Yvonne Nelson’s memoir just like a movie in print; it’s striking’ — Popular Author

Popular author Nii Okaikoi Okaitei has praised actress Yvonne Nelson's newly released memoir "I Am Not Yvonne Nelson", describing the book as one that is "just like a movie in print.”

In a detailed review shared by Yvonne Nelson on social media, the author said he devoured the 262-page book in 1.5 days.

"This book is just like a movie in print. Exactly what it ought to be. Difficult to stop reading, and reacting as if the storyteller is telling the story before you,” Okaikoi wrote.

He added that the issues addressed in the book go beyond the public perception of Yvonne Nelson.

"Strikingly, the issues in focus in this book far outweigh what the social commentaries project. (Confirmation that the noise was birthed out of ignorance, hearsay and possibly, from emotions and hate (either for Yvonne and/or for 'speaking' up)),” added the famed author.

The author said the book has taught, inspired and empowered him as a writer, creative and activist.

Yvonne Nelson's memoir details her determination to uncover the identity of her biological father, examines her relationship with her mother and candidly explores her acting career and personal life.

The book also contains "explosive revelations" including that Yvonne's mother lied about Mr. Nelson being her father and that she had an abortion with rapper Sarkodie in 2010.

"This is a memoir. This book's plot/storyline is not far from us-it situates life in our context...Certainly, this book shall survive you beyond the end of times," Okaikoi posited.
