I’ve made my mother proud by completing my first degree – Samini

Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Emmanuel Andrews Sammini, popularly known as Samini has earned his first university degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

The 41-year-old musician took to social media to announce that he has completed the requirements for a degree in Project Management.

“Today I’m proud to tell all my loved ones and well-wishers that I’m Officially done with my exams for my PROJECT MANAGEMENT DEGREE PROGRAM at GIMPA BUSINESS SCHOOL and am awaiting Graduation,” Samini posted.

Samini who is the immediate past SRC President of GIMPA said going back to school was fulfilling a promise he made to his mother, who supported his music career from the start.

"4 years ago I decided to challenge myself to a promise I made to my own damn self after high school. That I would one day go back and do university education just to complete the journey if not for anything to make mama proud since she was my biggest fan and played a major role in how I got to convince family to allow me to chose music over books,” he shared.

Known for hit songs like “Linda”, “My Own”, and “Obra”, Samini has been a trailblazer for the Ghanaian reggae and dancehall genre.

He started his music career in 1999 and has since released several groundbreaking studio albums and won several awards, both local and international.

Despite his success in music, Samini felt it was important to honor his mother's support and his own promise some years back by obtaining a university degree which he used to inspire others.

“Morale . You can do it no matter how late. Better late than never. Back to the music. Lol. Dem no ready for what’s cooking smh,” he posted.
