You’ll pay for it – Kojo Forex tightens stance on 1million cedis lawsuit against Bongo Ideas

Popular Ghanaian social media influencer and forex trader, Bright Kojo Onipayede, known as Kojo Forex, has reiterated his no-going-back stance on the lawsuit he recently filed against Ghanaian blogger, Bongo Ideas.

In a tweet on Friday, May 19, the Forex investor noted that he will go to any length to make sure the twitter troll pays for whatever pain he has caused him and his family.

“Causing my family & especially my wife to have a psychological breakdown because stupid & ignorant random strangers online are labelling her husband “a scammer” when she freaken knows how hard I legit work! You’ll pay for it, I PROMISE!” he wrote.

Kojo Forex had filed a lawsuit against Bongo Ideas for defamation.

In the suit filed in Accra High Court, Kojo Forex claims Bongo Ideas published "disparaging and defamatory statements" about him on Twitter following Kojo Forex's refusal to mentor or associate with Bongo Ideas.

According to the statement of claim intercepted by Modernghana News, Kojo Forex runs an academy providing forex trading education and has a large social media following, including over 156,000 YouTube subscribers and 78,800 Twitter followers.

In contrast, Bongo Ideas has approximately 86,800 followers on Twitter, where he frequently posts controversial comments about public figures.

The statement of claim alleges that Bongo Ideas first contacted Kojo Forex in April 2022 to request mentorship on "how to makemoney."

However, Kojo Forex refused to respond or engage with Bongo Ideas due to the latter's notorious social media behavior.

In response, Bongo Ideas allegedly began posting "disparaging and defamatory" statements about Kojo Forex on Twitter in February 2023.

Some of the defamatory tweets from Bongo Ideas include: "I hate to give FX fraudsters like @KojoForex a bite of my so-called 'ill-gotten clout.' But a Ponzi-schemer who steals from people & comes online to proudly show off deserves some hooting. Pay the people you've defrauded first, & let's see if I could consider you for a beefing." Another tweet allegedly said, "The FX thingy is just a small part of the secretive online business empire (I will explain later) he runs. His profits from FX, as he makes it...are from his numerous students...As for his illicit online money-making empire...that's episodes are loading!"

Kojo Forex is seeking one million cedis in damages, a retraction and apology from Bongo Ideas, and a court order restraining him from further defamatory comments.

The case is scheduled to be heard in the Accra High Court in the coming days.

In a tweet on Thursday, May 18, with the suit documents attached, Kojo Forex wrote, “Bongo Ideas, see you in court.”
