Wizkid, who has won several awards such as Grammys, BET, MOBOs, AMA, and others, says he is only getting started.
The Nigerian Afrobeat sensation has stated that he is still an upcoming artist.
In an exclusive interview with UK-based 10 Magazine, he stated that he intends to expand his "Starboy" brand to rival popular record labels like Drake's label, Roc Nation, and others.
“I’m an up- and-coming artist,” he says quietly, adding that “I don’t think I will ever feel like an accomplished artist or person, because I see life so different, you know? I still have a lot of work to do.”
Known best by Afrobeats, Wizkid touted the uniqueness of the genre, claiming it is currently the biggest among all genres around the globe.
“Afrobeats is the new pop,” he said. “I sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record. If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore."
