Veteran actor, Fred Amugi has denied claims that he holds a degree from the University of Ghana (UG).
According to him, he never attended the country's premier university.
The revelation is however a sharp contrast to widespread online reports including those on Wikipedia that said he was at the university.
“I was not there,” he told Giovani Caleb on Showbiz 360 on TV3.
“I have never been to the university. That is what people don't understand,” he said.
He explained that he was discovered right after high school and his acting career began in no time.
“I just came from secondary school form 5. In fact, during my last year in school, Nungua Secondary school, the late Nick Teye, who used to work at Ghana films, saw the potential in me. He decided, 'we'll do a stage thing, and I want you to play a character. That's how it all started,” he added.
Fred is one of Ghana's most respected veteran actors. He started acting in 1970. With his career spanning over five decades, he has been featured in several movies and remained one of the most celebrated of his time.
