"Focusing on short films the way to go" — Executive Director of Accra Indie Filmfest

The Executive Director of Accra Indie Filmfest believes that paying attention to more short films is the way to go in the striving movie industry of Ghana.

Speaking to Modern Ghana Entertainment News desk, Mr. Evan Eghan suggested that there should be varieties in the movie terrain which he said will go a long way to see the country's movie industry not just grow but be of firm standing.

According to him, short films require fewer budgets but have many genres of interest which will contribute to the coagulation of the industry locally and internationally.

"The movies that are been outdoors in the various cinemas always take up a one-way form and that easily bores movie lovers. If focus will be laid on short films, we will realize that several genres and styles of movies will fill up and there will be lots of creative works," he said this during the launch of this year's edition of the Accra Indie Fest yesterday, March 18, 2022.

The Accra Indie Filmfest is an annual program that bring together movie makers who consist of movie directors, scriptwriters, actors, editors, and producers.

It seeks to train, equip and broaden the scopes of moviemakers by taking them through intensive workshops and idea-sharing with expects in Ghana and from other parts of the world within a time span.

All done, competition is set for these movie makers to put on display what they have acquired.

Mr. Eghan added that participants are assured some international integration due to how wide the initiative is known.

Speaking at the event was Mrs. Odolina Roussinov, a board director who stated that there is the need to create room for the future of film industry by giving young makers an opportunity to explore broader scopes.
