Caroline Marks A Decade On Radio

Today, November 11, 2015 is exactly ten years since A-list Ghanaian radio and television personality Caroline Sampson started her career in the media. She certainly has achieved a lot worth writing home about.

Caroline currently hosts the Y-Longue on Y107.9 Fm and is co-host of Celebrity Fan Zone on Viasat 1.

She shot to fame in 2005 as one of the Miss Malaika pageant contestants for that year. Though she did not emerge the overall winner, she took up a radio presenting job at Atlantis Radio just when the pageant ended.

Caroline did not abandon her passion for modelling and tried her chances once again as a contestant of the Top Model Ghana in 2006. She has catwalked for local and international designers including Ozwald Boateng, Kofi Ansah, Nana Asihene and House of Eccentric.

She has worked with a variety of credible media giants including Atlantis Radio, Pravda Radio, GTV, Citi fm, TV3, ETv, Viasat 1 and Yfm.

Caroline has become an ambassador for her generation and this is reflected in her successful involvement in a variety of endeavours including various television and radio commercials with Mentos,  Men Only, Gino Tomato paste, Kasapa as well as serving as brand ambassador for Woodin and Castle Milk Stout.

'At the beginning it was not easy but it is paying off. I am making good money from the voice-overs I do and now I am getting endorsements. I charge for all these works. I get one job, I give it my best, then I get a link to another one and I keep making money,' she told NEWS-ONE in a previous interview.

Her career is a reflection of her passion for the work she does and exemplary of a self-made woman who has invested a tremendous amount of dedication in her professional work. She begrudges the idea of being regarded as a role model to many of Ghana's youth but it is evident from the devout following on her multiple social media platforms that she is an inspiration to a lot of the youth who follow her.

Asked what her advice to those who saw her as their role model was, this was what she had to say: 'I think the young ones are playing too much although they have all the opportunities they need to make it. They use their access to the internet to seek the wrong information.

I believe they have to work harder and get really serious in everything. The way you carry yourself around, the way you dress or even speak is what would make a man think of either taking you seriously or just taking you for granted.'

As a growing brand, Caroline has remained open-minded to learning and advancing her career with a boundless zest for achieving excellence. A decade on, the seminal nature of her career is on a trajectory only she can stifle; and from talking to her, one can only expect that she is on a mission to be the best version of herself both in her career and personal life.

A dedicated mother and daughter, she epitomises a woman equally in love with her work and family.

Caroline, who is incredibly gifted, is into music and has featured in tracks including that of Tema-based tongue-twisting rapper Geminy, Asem (Pigaro), 4×4 (Hot Girls-Remix), and Mimi (Leave Me Alone-Remix) among others.

She attended the Creator JHS, Mfantsiman Senior High School at Saltpond and the African University College of Communications (AUCC).
