Araba Stamp’s Burial On Saturday

Stage and television drama actress, Araba Stamp who arranged her funeral ahead of her death which occurred at the Accra 37 Military Hospital last month, will be buried this Saturday.

“If I die in Accra here, don't bother to incur any expenses by sending my body to my hometown. Just bury me at Osu”, she had said in a pre-recorded episode of the Efiewura comedy series on GTV.

“I dont have anybody, no brothers or sisters-so dont take me far. Bury me and observe my funeral rites here in Accra”, the actress said.

Among the people she nominated to oversee her funeral arrangements were “Tetteh a lighting technician with the National Theatre, Esther Amartey a.k.a., Bibio and her mother Momoye Tetteh, who run a restaurant at the Arts and Pobee of Modern Photos.

According to the late Araba “ I'm asking them not to incur any unnecessary expenses”. On the same programme, Araba Stamp, whose real name is Margaret Quainoo said she was born on December 12, 1941 to Ajua Kweenua of Mankessim and Teacher Mensah of Abrakrampa.

She had one child, now deceased, but has been blessed with four grand children; Mary, Kofi, Paul and Emma.

All her life, Araba Stamp, was into acting and one of the highlights of her career occurred in 1967 when she was invited by Bob Cole to play in his feature film, I Told You So.

Araba Smart who called on all to help the Concert Party, because “I have done my part, now I am tired and weak. You should try and help us the concert party people because we are suffering”, will be buried on Saturday.

In a chat with Bibio one of the people she nominated to oversee her funeral she mentioned that, even though the concert party practitioners have virtually taken over everything, they have played their part and hope Araba will go “home' satisfied.

On Thursday actors and actresses will go on a 'jama' around town. Then on Friday there will be a wake at the Arts Centre.

She will be buried at the Osu Cemetery the next day. On Sunday after the thanksgiving service, there will be performances in Araba's honour at the arts Centre.
