Telecommunication provider, Vodafone Ghana, has unveiled names of the 12 contestants who qualified for this year's Icons Remix Edition.
The 12 finalists will be competing for a brand new Nissan Qashqai grand prize, a recording deal, a cash prize and souvenirs worth over GH¢100,000.
Below is the full list of the 12 finalists.
Christie Quincyna Quarcoopome
19-year-old Christie is a student of the University of Ghana. She is reading Psychology and Archaeology. Her ambition is to become a music lawyer. She believes Icons will give her the exposure she needs and feels excited that the whole world is watching her.
Josephine Ansah
19-year-old Josephine recently completed Ideal College as a science student. Her ambition in life is to make her family, especially her mum, proud in every aspect of her life. She sees Icons as an experience, and hopes to learn from other contestants.
Hannah Sonkobea Akua Nyarko .
Hannah is a 19-year-old Senior High School graduate from Commonwealth College Senior High School. She takes inspiration from her dad who used to be part of a music band. Hannah wants to invest in her passions—music and dance. She is committed to pursuing her dream of becoming a musician even if she does not win.
Bernard Opoku-Agyeman
25-year-old Bernard holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Marketing from the Kumasi Polytechnic. With regard to music, the ambitious young talent takes inspiration and encouragement from his cousins. He plans to go ahead with his dream of becoming a global musician after Icons.
Naya, Titi, Alice and Dolly
Christian Owusu
Christian's ambition is to become the hottest male vocalist in the world. The 26-year-old is a promising entrepreneur who completed Takoradi Polytechnic in 2013. At age six, he believed that singing was his gift. He sees this platform as an opportunity to train himself.
Jennings William Djan
Jennings is 21 years old, and is a student of Radford University. He wants to blend music with his ambition of becoming an accountant and believes Icons is a stepping stone for him to get the needed exposure.
Eli Kwesi Letsa
20-year-old Eli is an entrepreneur who deals in suits and accessories. His brother was on the show two years ago. Eli dreams of becoming a music teacher. His aim is to influence people in a Christian way through music. He is very optimistic about winning the contest.
Abigail Owusu
Abigail is a 19-year-old graduate of Ghana Senior High School in Koforidua. She is motivated by her grandfather who bought her a piano and other musical instruments at a very young age. She wants to be the greatest singer in the world and believes Icons will offer her that platform.
Angela Enam Keteku
Angela completed Saint Monica's Senior High School recently. She is 19 years old. Angela, whose dad and mum are a pianist and a singer respectively, believes winning the 'Remix' edition will lead to the realisation of her dream of becoming an international star.
Gifty Taabea Bediako
Gifty is a 20-year-old student of Radford University. She is passionate about music and fashion, and believes in empowering others to succeed in life. Her passion for music was nurtured by her dad who once owned a band. She is very hopeful of winning Icons.
Alice Ama Twum
Alice is a 23-year-old student of Radford University. Her interest for music was borne out of the fact that her grandmother used to sing to her. She believes music is her comfort zone as it gives her joy and peace. Even as she anticipates victory in her music journey, she looks beyond Icons.
Regina Nana Akua Ansah
Regina is a 21-year-old student at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ). She is also related to the gospel artiste Nii Okai. Regina hopes to do full time music later in life and has high hopes to win Icons.
