Nothing stunning happened on that fateful Friday some three decades ago.It was an ordinary day that fetched an extraordinary talent to take over the creative arts industry. Nana Kofi Asihene is a household name when it comes to Lights,Cameras and Action.
As far as I am concerned, Nana Kofi Asihene does everything that deals with creative arts. Fashion designing, event planning ,photography and what he is better known for, Video Directing.
This great showbiz magnate I write about today started directing as far back as memory will favour him but developed a strong desire to give his all while studying textiles design back at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.A proud member of the graduation class of 2003.While in his second year in the University,he directed a video for the Inspirational Youth Choir entitled 'Just say No'.
Nana Kofi with his illustrious NKACC unit has been the mastermind of so many productions we see on our media platforms in recent times. He has transcended secular music and directed a couple of gospel music videos as well. Some of his productions will be listed at the end of this piece.
The mention of awards will verily hearten Nana Kofi Asihene's soul because his works have had a fair share of nominations and awards both locally and internationally.Earlier on, he had emerged winner of the British Council's International Young Fashion Entrepreneur Award in 2008 and a finalist of the Redd's African Fashion Design Awards in 2009.
A whole book could describe this young legend Ghana has but that will be too much of flattery. The calm and collected director is married to Mrs Sophia Asihene and has a baby boy.
To God,he knew Nana Kofi even in his mother's womb and set him apart to paint stories the artistic way and that is what he does with all his heart.
I wish you well champ.
