Disappointed patrons of last Sunday's failed Home-coming concert by Daddy Lumba in Kumasi are threatening legal action against the musician and organizers of the event.
People had paid between 30 and 50 Ghana cedis for the much-publicized Boxing Day show, but they were disappointed when the music icon called the event off to the surprise of a capacity crowd.
About hundred of the angry fans say HomeProud Entertainment; organizers of the event breached its part of the contract for which they want to settle scores with it in court.
At a press conference in Kumasi, the group vowed to turn down any invitation to the event now rescheduled for New Year's Day.
The Daddy Lumba Homecoming Concert was a comeback show for the popular highlife icon who shot to fame twenty six years ago.
That however was never to be, as Daddy Lumba failed to perform because of what organizers described as technical challenge.
Angry fans who could not believe the unfolding circumstances vandalized equipment and other property at the Royal Lamerta Hotel, venue for the event.
As organizers are struggling to replace the damaged items, some disappointed patrons from in and outside Ghana feel who feel cheated are seeking justice.
Spokesperson of the group, Francis Dodovi says some of the patrons travelled all the way from Canada, Accra, Sunyani and other parts of the country.
"We are suing them for damages and breach of contract to bring us the show on 26th December as they promised" he said.
According to him, organizers have since then refused to give them any explanations.
"We don't care whether they (organizers) re-schedule the event or not. We are suing them for interest on the face value of all the tickets we bought," Mr. Dodovi said.
He says the move is to "protect the human rights of all patrons who have been cheated by Home Proud Entertainment".
Officials of HomeProud Entertainment say they take full responsibility for the unfortunate situation, and absolve Daddy Lumba and Royal Lamerta Hotel from blame.
Publicist, Kwabena Agyemang-Kobia, says sub-standard equipment cost them what could have been a memorable night.
He pleaded for leniency as efforts continue to make up for the failed event.
He assured fans the event has been re-scheduled for 1st January 2011 at the same venue.
