Dear Editor,
I am an American and have joined Afrointroduction.com. I get overwhelming responses from Accra. Yes the women are gorgeous, but not out of my league, so to speak.
Many ask for money right away but several took months to ask. I soon weeded them out by asking for mailing addresses, which some supplied but didn't seem like legitimate addresses to me. But I have never been to Accra.
They always insist on Western Union or Moneygram. One woman in question goes by the name Zaliatu Mumudu another by Hawa Alhasan. I have spoken to them on the phone several times and honestly they sound nothing like they should.
I have since stopped contact with them because of pleas to send money for webcam, internet service, new computer, etc. And I believe that many are using the same scripts to chat with; I've read the same lines from many contacts. Now I know what to look for and quite frankly anyone I meet online from Accra I don't even give the time of day to.
This may be prejudice on my part but I think it's more of a safeguard. I write this to your paper because I read an article of yours on the internet. Though I am not lonely, old and far from ugly! I do like the women from Africa. If I am wrong about either of the ladies that I mentioned, I am sorry for that. I hope I am, but feel otherwise. If there are legitimate woman in Accra that you know of, I would love to meet them but I think I will stay away from Afrointroductions.com. Thank you for your time, I just wanted to vent maybe?
Kindest regards,
Address supplied
Editors note: You are right. A lot of these "supposed" ladies are actually men and of course scammers. stay away from them and advice your friends too.

Your comment strikes a chord with me .Im from the UK with a similar experience of Ghanaian ladies Ive been told that they show there love by asking for financial help, i'e not just anyones money will do!! Its about time that the authorities made there web prescence higher profile to give non Ghanaians online access to the police and immigration services so they can find out what can be done to stop this embezzlement.
