Accra, Ghana — Emerging Ghanaian rapper and songwriter Rk Jay’son has shared his desire to one day meet celebrated dancehall musician Shatta Wale, describing the award-winning artist as a major inspiration in his musical journey.
Rk Jay’son, born Richard King Adavor in Tarkwa Nsuaem, is known for blending hip-hop, dancehall, and Afrobeats influences in his sound. Speaking about his admiration for Shatta Wale, the young artist noted that watching the dancehall star’s rise from humble beginnings to continental recognition has been a motivating force behind his own pursuit of music.
According to Rk Jay’son, meeting Shatta Wale in real life would be more than a personal milestone; it would represent an opportunity to learn directly from an artist who has successfully built an independent career while maintaining a strong connection with fans.
“Shatta Wale’s journey shows what consistency, confidence, and belief in oneself can achieve,” Rk Jay’son said. “Meeting him in person would mean a lot to me as an upcoming artist trying to find my own voice in the industry.”
Often referred to as the African Dancehall King, Shatta Wale has influenced a generation of musicians across Ghana and beyond, particularly within the dancehall and street-pop scenes. His impact has been felt not only through music but also through his outspoken approach to artistry and independence.
Rk Jay’son, who continues to grow his presence on digital streaming platforms, believes that interacting with established figures like Shatta Wale can inspire emerging talents to remain focused despite challenges in the competitive music landscape.
While no official meeting has taken place yet, Rk Jay’son remains hopeful that their paths will cross in the future, as he continues to develop his craft and expand his reach within Ghana’s music scene.
