The Olivera Miljković Foundation today marks the first anniversary of the passing of Olivera Miljković, a woman remembered for her kindness, dedication to healthcare, and love for people. Though a year has passed since her departure, her legacy continues to inspire lives across borders and generations.

Olivera Miljković (born Janković) was born on 30 August 1935 in Belgrade, Serbia. She devoted her professional life to the medical field, working as a leading radiology specialist at Bežanijska Kosa Hospital in Belgrade. Her colleagues and patients remember her as hardworking, compassionate, and deeply committed to her profession. Outside of her career, she had a passion for athletics and was widely respected for her discipline and strength of character.

She was married to the well-known Serbian journalist Blagoje Miljković, and together they built a strong and loving family, raising two children, Ivana and Aleksandar.

Following her passing on 3 February 2025, her family and loved ones chose to honour her memory by establishing the Olivera Miljković Foundation in Ghana. The foundation was created to continue her values of helping others and supporting communities in need. In recognition of her lasting impact, a road and street in the Community were named after her, ensuring that her name remains connected to community development and hope.

During the one-year remembrance organised by the foundation, children who have benefited from its projects shared touching tributes. Many described how the foundation’s support has positively influenced their lives, especially through initiatives that improve access to clean water and educational support. The children expressed gratitude and spoke about how Olivera’s legacy has become a symbol of opportunity and care for young people.

Speaking during a live broadcast on the foundation’s official social media page, the Second Director of the Foundation, Leon Daniel Agyeman Dodoo, spoke about the organisation’s continued commitment to humanitarian work. He emphasised that the foundation remains focused on expanding its “Water for All” project to reach more schools across Ghana.

He encouraged Ghanaians to look forward to upcoming initiatives from the foundation, noting that the First Director, Aleksandar Miljković, has developed plans aimed at strengthening community support systems and improving access to essential resources for children and schools across the country.

As the foundation reflects on Olivera Miljković’s life and legacy, her story continues to serve as a reminder of the impact one life can have on many others. Through ongoing projects and community partnerships, the foundation remains dedicated to preserving her vision of compassion, service, and support for future generations.
