The Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozing (Esq.), has lauded the Ghana Prisons Service for its innovative “Think Prisons 360°” initiative and the establishment of the Prison Improvement and Sustainability Pesewa Fund (PISPES).
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at a ceremony held in the region, Hon. Puozing praised the Service for taking proactive steps towards modernizing prison administration and promoting the welfare of inmates and officers alike. He noted that the “Think Prisons 360°” initiative reflects a holistic vision for correctional reform and sustainable development within the Service.
As a gesture of support, the Regional Minister made a personal donation of Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 5,000) to the PISPES Fund, which aims to mobilize resources to improve prison infrastructure, healthcare, and rehabilitation programmes across the country.
He encouraged individuals, organizations, and corporate bodies to contribute to the Fund, stressing that national development cannot be complete without attention to the conditions and reformation of persons in custody.
The event forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana Prisons Service to strengthen partnerships and drive sustainable reforms in the country’s correctional system.
