Government is set to launch a Consular Fund aimed at providing timely assistance to Ghanaians facing genuine emergency situations abroad.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the initiative will complement existing consular services and strengthen support for citizens in distress across the world.

He explained that the fund will require collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure faster interventions for Ghanaians who encounter emergencies while outside the country.

The initiative forms part of government's efforts to improve welfare and protection for Ghanaians living and travelling abroad.
