Prez Mahama Reveals New Plans For Juapong Factory And Volivo Bridge Project

President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to modernize the defunct Juapong Textiles Factory, revealing that government will soon finalise an agreement with a transaction adviser to secure an investor for the project.
The factory's decline resulted in the loss of more than 2,000 jobs, with many workers laid off over the years.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the 24-hour market project in Juapong, North Tongu Constituency, President Mahama said government is also engaging the government of Benin to secure a reliable supply of raw materials to support the revival and operations of the factory.
On the Volivo Bridge project, the President disclosed that construction is expected to begin before the end of the year after government completes the process of selecting a new contractor.
The move follows the withdrawal of the previous contractor due to prolonged delays.
