Weija Children’s Hospital To Open After EOCO Brokers Ministry, Contractor Deal

The Weija Children's Hospital is set to open to the public following an agreement brokered by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) between the Ministry of Health and Awerco Construction Limited over the handover of the facility.
In a statement dated July 16, 2026, EOCO said the agreement will allow the Ministry of Health to take over the hospital and commence healthcare services for the benefit of Ghanaians.
The resolution follows a series of engagements facilitated by EOCO between the two parties, despite outstanding issues including claims by the contractor over unpaid sums and concerns raised by the project's financier regarding procurement processes.
The parties agreed that the completed facility should be handed over and made operational without further delay in the interest of public healthcare delivery.
