Israeli rights groups accuse government of accelerating West Bank annexation
Two leading Israeli human rights organisations, Peace Now and Kerem Navot, say Israel has sharply accelerated the annexation of the occupied West Bank between 2023 and 2025. Their report documents the approval of more than 185 illegal settlement outposts, over 40,000 new housing units, and 102 new settlements, alongside 223 kilometres of roads built for settlers. Nearly 1,000 square kilometres of Palestinian land have been seized, and 118 Palestinian communities forcibly displaced. The groups say the rate of land seizure is unprecedented since the occupation began in 1967.
