The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of power outages expected on Monday, June 8, 2026, across the Ashanti, Tema, Accra East and Accra West operational areas. The interruptions are due to scheduled maintenance works as well as a technical fault at a major substation.
Ashanti Region
Two planned maintenance exercises will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- The first will affect Old Krapa and surrounding communities.
- The second will impact Aboaso, Ntonso, Mampong Korea, Akitibomo and nearby areas.
Both notices were issued on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Tema Region
A maintenance exercise scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will affect a wide range of communities, including:
Tema International School, EU China Mall, Don Bosco, New Tulaku, Bethlehem, Sebrepor, White Estates, Emef Estates, Coastal Estates, Goshen, Gbetsile, Ososhie, Adom Estates, P.S. Global, Devtraco Estates, Lebanon Zones 3 & 4, Zenu, Atadeka, Megbedzre, Agbetikpo, Sikor, Tokpo, Tsumkpo and surrounding areas.
Accra East Region
A planned outage from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will affect:
ECG Headquarters, Police City, Ashiye Fulani and nearby communities.
Accra West Region
Maintenance works from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. will impact:
Tabora Numbers 3, 4, 5 and 6, Alhaji Trotro Station, Tantra Hill, Katapor, Edusa, New Achimota, Tantra Hill Roman and surrounding areas.
Technical Fault at Kwashieman Substation
Separately, parts of the Accra West Region are currently experiencing an unplanned outage due to a technical challenge at the Kwashieman Primary Substation. Affected areas include:
Nyamekye, Abeka Lapaz, Fadama, Nii Boye Town, Ashawo Market, Darkuman Zongo, Darkuman Township, Kata Hostel and surrounding communities.
ECG says engineers are working to rectify the fault and restore supply as quickly as possible.
ECG Expresses Regret
The company has apologised for the inconvenience and advised customers in affected areas to make alternative arrangements for power‑dependent activities during the outage periods.
All planned maintenance notices were issued between June 5 and June 6, 2026. ECG assures that supply will be restored immediately after the completion of scheduled works and encourages customers to follow its official communication channels for further updates.
