The technical team is yet to decide on who will captain the team for the AFCON 2019 clash against Kenya, Deputy Black Stars Coach Ibrahim Tanko has stated.

There have been reports that Inter Milan new boy Kwadwo Asamoah has been selected to captain the Black Stars for their match against Kenya tomorrow.

But according to Ibrahim Tanko, that is just a rumor and they have not yet decided on who will lead the team from the tunnel unto the pitch.

"We have not decided who will captain the team yet, that decision will be taken this evening after training. We have heard a lot of people saying we have given the captaincy to Kwadwo Asamoah but all those are not true, we will decide who captains the team this evening”, he said in an interview on Fox FM.

In the absence of Captain Asamoah Gyan as well as Deputy Captain Andre Dede Ayew, experienced right back Harrison Afful could be handed the band to lead the team but it all depends on Coach Kwasi Appiah and his technical team. With the return of Kwadwo Asamoah to the team, it makes him an equal candidate to be given the mandate.

Thomas Partey has captained the Black Stars in the last two games Ghana has played. He wore the arm band in the two friendlies against Japan and Iceland prior to the world cup.

The Black Stars will come up against the Harambee Stars of Kenya at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday at 1pm Ghana time.

Ghana already tops the group with 3 points and five goals. A win for Ghana on Saturday will put the team in a good position to book qualification to AFCON 2019.
