2016/2017 National Women's League Officially Launched

Accra, April 20, GNA - The fifth (5th) edition of the National Women's League was officially launched on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Ghana Football Association Secretariat.

According to the GFA, the 2016/2017 National Women's League kicks off on Saturday, April 29, 2017 and would see 16 teams from both the Southern and Northern zones contesting for the ultimate.

The eight teams from the Southern Zone are Hasaacas Ladies, Immigration Ladies, Lady Strikers, Police Ladies, Soccer Intellectuals, Samaria Ladies, Holy Royal Ladies and Sea Lions Ladies.

The clubs contesting from the Northern Zone are Ampem Darkoa Ladies, AshTown Ladies, Fabulous Ladies, Northern Ladies, Lepo Ladies, Prisons Ladies, Real Upper Ladies and Kumasi Sports Academy.

Winners of each zone would lock horns to determine the eventual champions of the National Women's League.

Roselyn Amo, the Vice Chairman of the National Women's League told the GNA Sports that, this season's league would be keenly contested, as the clubs are battle ready for the league.

'All the teams are determined to win the league, especially the teams, which have never won the championship before. They are now desperate to win it, whilst the defending champions want to retain the crown, so obviously the tone is set for a competitive season and I am happy about that.'
