The 1992 Black Stars squad showed they still have some good football in them but succumbed to the energetic Asante Kotoko side when they lost 4-2 on Sunday at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in the 50 anniversary of the 1965 Africa Cup of Nations triumph by Ghana
The occasion was grazed by former President Jerry John Rawlings, the CEO of Despite group of companies, Osei Kwame Despite and the GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The 1992 Black stars squad was captained by Tony Yeboah and they also invited guest players like Mohammed Polo, Charles Taylor, Hamza Mohammed, Felix Aboagye and Frank Osei who all had a part to play in the game.
Whereas Kotoko paraded their usual team, but this time captained by the veteran Stephen Oduro, instead of Amos Frimpong.
The sensational young chap Amos Dauda Mohammed shot the Porcupine warriors into the lead in the early stages of the game, before Michael Yeboah doubled their lead before the first half came to an end.
Kotoko back from recess added two more goals and Michael Yeboah was involved in one of the two goals to register a brace in the evening.
The 1992 Black Stars team pulled two goals back through a thunderbolt from Frank Osei and another goal from the spot kick by Felix Aboagye after the dazzling Charles Taylor had been brought down in the 18-yard box.
The likes of Edward Ansah, Emmanuel Ampiah, Frimong Manso, Sarfo Gyamfi, Opoku Nti, Isaac Kwakye, Nii Darko Ankrah, Abukari Damba, and Stanley Aborah, all featured at different times for the 1992 Black Stars squad.
The 1992 Black Stars team displayed good football but they could match the energy levels of the current Asante Kotoko team.
