The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Friday that midfielder David Accam and defender Adailton have received their U.S. Green Cards, granting them permanent resident status in the United States. Accam and Adailton will no longer occupy International Roster Spots on the Fire roster.
Accam joined the Fire from Swedish Allsvenskan side Helsingborgs IF on Dec. 19, 2014. In 21 appearances this season, Accam has scored a team-leading nine goals and added two assists. The Accra, Ghana native was most recently called up for international duty for Ghana's 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda on Sept. 4.
Adailton signed with the Fire on Dc. 30, 2014. The Brazilian centerback scored one goal in 17 matches for the Fire this season.
The Fire currently have four open international roster spots. Daneil Cyrus (Trinidad), Gilberto (Brazil), Kennedy Igboananike (Nigeria) and Joevin Jones (Trinidad) currently occupy four of the Fire's eight spots.
