EXCLUSIVE: Qatari giants Lekhwiya ready to splash $8m on Waris, Trabzonspor want $12m

Qatari giants Lekhwiya have started negotiations to sign Abdul-Majeed Waris from Trabzonspor after the Turkish side expressed their willingness to allow the Ghana striker to leave, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Lekhwiya are willing to pay $8m but Trabzonspor are holding out for $12m which has led to a stand off over a possible transfer in next month, Ghana's leading football news website www.ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Ghanaian striker's agent Armand Kaya'n?n has been in negotiations with Trabzonspor since last week to find an amicable way for Waris to leave the club.

The French lawyer will arrive in Istanbul this week to meet with Trabzonspor CEO Burat Gürdal as they seek to reach a deal over the transfer, insiders have told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Waris hasn't featured for his team as much as he would expect current manager Ersun Yanal to give the board the permission to allow him to leave to Lekhwiya where he will play more.

The 23-year-old only arrived at Trabzonspor in the summer after appearing for Ghana at the World Cup in Brazil and president Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu says he won't be allowed to leave on the cheap.

Waris has three goals for the Ghana national team and previously played for Spartak Moscow and BK Hacken before moving to Turkey.

After struggling in Russia, Waris had a short loan spell in France this year where he scored nine in 16 games, attracting the attention of clubs like United.
