CAF rules for Kotoko and Hearts adhere to in Africa

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak who will represent Ghana in Africa next year must adhere to some competition rules.

Reigning Ghana Premier League champions Kotoko will play in the CAF Champions League.

Hearts will play in the Confederation Cup despite finishing third. This is because runners-up Heart of Lions refused to participate.

CAF rules state:
“3. A player who is qualified to play in CAF Champions League must:

a) Possess a license in his club issued by its national association and registered in his federation on 15th January of the year of the competition at the latest for the 1st period of registration and on 10th August of the year of the competition, at the latest, for the second period of registration.

b) Possess a license issued by CAF.
c) Be qualified regularly in the national championship of the country for the club engaged in CAF Champions League.

d) Live in the country of the club for which he is playing.”
