Relations between Accra Hearts of Oak and Coach Ernst Middwendorp took another turn when the coach failed to guide the team in last Sunday's friendly against Okwawu United in Accra.
Coach Middendorp, apparently angered by the late arrival of the players for the game, refused to coach and left the stadium. Club sources told the Graphic that the coach had ordered the players after last Saturday's game at Obuasi against Ashantigold to report at 1 p.m. for the game against Okwawu, but as of that time not more than five players had reported.
But even when the coach strained himself under extreme patience to wait for the others, the situation did not improve.
“He left in protest not to coach the team for the friendly game,” the source said.
Hearts beat Okwawu 1-0 under the instructions of deputy coaches Adollph Armah and Ofei Ansah.
