
Ghana defender Kwabena Adusei's penalty sailed the local Black Stars through to the quarters finals stage against Ethiopia in the last Group C match against at the African Nations Championship on Tuesday evening.
Adusei scored the only goal of the match for the home-based team when striker Seidu Bancey was brought down in the Ethiopians penalty box in the 76th minute of play. The 1-0 win has secured the team place in the quarter-finals.
After the game captain Jordan Opoku was awarded the best player for his outstanding performance on the hard fought victory.
He becomes the third Ghanaian player to have been rewarded for their performances in all three group matches.
Theophilus Anobaah and Yahaya Mohammed are the previous winners of the award at the tournament
