Ghana U20 Midfielder Jacob Apau Counts Uefa Champions League Experience

Midfielder Jacob Apau is encouraged by his appearance in the Uefa Champions League

Ghana youth international Jacob Apau Asiedu feels he has gained valuable experience from his debut appearance in the Uefa Champions League after marking his debut with Armenian side Shirak FC. 

The 19-year-old joined the Eurasian side from Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC two months ago and he is already relishing his new adventures with the Armenian Premier League title-holders.

Though the Armenian season is yet to get underway, the box-to-box midfielder has already had a first feel of action – playing in the prestigious Uefa Champions League qualifying round.

Shirak fell to Serbian giants giants Partizan Belgrade after narrowly missing out on qualification on the away-goal rule despite managing a 1-1 aggregate.

He was a second half substitute in both legs while compatriot Samuel Kyere – the former Berekum Chelsea defender managed full-time actions in both games.

And Apau feels the experience garnered from his debut appearance is exhilarating.

“Its good for me to play in this competition because it is very high-rated and respected across various parts of the world and moreover I have gained priceless experience and confidence too,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.

Apau is set to even play more crucial roles for Shirak FC when the Armenia season gets underway in August.
