CIMG Telecoms Company of the Year, Vodafone Ghana and the Accra Polo club over the weekend hosted a Polo International friendly match between Ghana and Nigeria at the Accra Polo Court.
The match which was sponsored by Vodafone Ghana attracted wide patronage from polo fans and members of the general public who thronged the Polo Court to glimpse all the action on the field.
The competition was originally billed to be an action-packed encounter between Ghana, Italy and Nigeria but the Italians withdrew their participation at the last hour.
The tone for the clash was then set between Ghana and bitter rivals Nigeria to determine which team would outmuscle the other.
However, the Ghanaian counterparts were unlucky and suffered a bitter defeat in the long run as Safas Shelter from Nigeria fought real hard from two goals behind to beat the Ghanaians 9-5 in that particular encounter at the Accra Polo Club.
This result goes down as a sweet revenge since the Nigerians were determined on the day to reverse a painful defeat they suffered in the hands of the Ghanaians during the 52nd Nigerian Independence Day polo cup held earlier this year at the same playing venue.
Shuaibu Zakari, Muktar Adhana, Bello Buba and Ibrahim Abu made the team for the Nigerian side that took home the trophy at stake and other unique prizes for thrilling performances from individual players.
On the other hand, Y Ziad, Eric Gene, Michael Mahama and George Agyemang, who made the Accra Polo Team as well as the Ghana team, also swept home some special trophies.
The event was staged by kind courtesy of Vodafone Ghana Telecom and the Accra Polo Club.
As a matter of fact, the kids were also not left out the action since great entertainment was available for children including bouncy castles, face painting and other activities.
