Clottey, three others for CAF Award

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – Former Berekum Chelsea forward Emmanuel Clottey and three other Ghanaians have been nominated for the 2012 African Player of the Year (Based in Africa).

The award is given to the best footballer based on Africa and competing in championships based on the continent.

Clottey, who scored 12-goals, was the star player for Berekum Chelsea on their maiden appearance in the CAF Champions League, a feat which saw him join Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis for a record 1.5 Million dollars last September.

The other Ghanaians in the 32-man list are Harrison Afful also of Esperance, Solomon Asante of Berekum Chelsea and relatively unknown Razak Yakubu of Sudanese side, Ahly Shandy.

The quartet made the nominations based on their performance for their respective clubs in the various continental club championship and domestic leagues.
