The Sixth West African Veterans Handball tournament has ended at Lome in Togo with Ghana winning gold in both the men and female events.
Ghana beat the likes of Togo, Nigeria and Benin to win the championship, which only featured four countries, and as a result Ghana would now host the next edition in April 2009.
Meanwhile, the Prisons Sports Complex is set for the finals of the on-going De-Youngsters Knockout Championship slated for today October 25, 2008 at 2.00pm.
Fire Service and Ghana Navy will battle it out in the finals of the male event while the Prisons clash with their Police counterparts in the female category.
The competition is being played in honour of the late Mrs Mary De-Youngsters, wife of Mr. De-Youngsters who has been sponsoring the competition since 1986.
In another development, Saka Acquaye, Secretary General of the Ghana Handball Association has disclosed that Jubilee Sports, based at Osu in Accra, has agreed to sponsor this year's Handball Champion of Champions, which takes place in the next two weeks.
For the first time, medals will be presented to all winners.
Already, prisons have won both the male and female leagues and therefore qualified for the event.
League Champions meet with Knockout Champions in the Champion of Champions.
