Harry Kane has committed the next chapter of his career to Bayern Munich by signing a record-breaking new three-year contract at the club.
Kane, 33, was approaching the final six months of his previous term, but both sides were determined to prolong a successful relationship.
The striker’s extension ties him down until June 2029 and is the most lucrative deal in Bayern history, according to sources privy to the situation who spoke anonymously as they were not authorised to discuss the details publicly.
Those sources believe the deal makes Kane the highest-paid player in Europe by salary, although some others are believed to earn more through bonuses.
Bayern do not view this as Kane’s last agreement with the club; rather, the desire is to continue retaining his services for the foreseeable future.
The England captain has scored 156 goals in 161 games since joining the German champions from Tottenham Hotspur three years ago and recently became the first player from his country to win the coveted Ballon d’Or since 2001.
He has so far lifted two Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, two Supercups and continues to pursue the Champions League trophy.
