Bibiani Gold Stars head coach Petros Koukouras has criticised the condition of Debibi Presby Park, describing the playing surface as more suitable for cassava farming than football.
His comments came after Gold Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat by Debibi United in their Matchday 7 fixture in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League over the weekend.
Maxwell Agyemang scored shortly before half-time to secure all three points for the hosts, ending their three-match winless run and lifting them level with Gold Stars on seven points.
The victory also moved Debibi United out of the relegation zone as they continue their efforts to establish themselves in the top flight.
Speaking after the match, Koukouras expressed his frustration with the state of the pitch, arguing that its condition made it difficult to focus on the football.
“We cannot discuss football. I don’t think this is a pitch designated for football. Maybe it is designated for cassava plantation. I don’t have anything else to say,” he said.
The defeat leaves Gold Stars with work to do as they seek to get their campaign back on track.
Koukouras’ side will host Heart of Lions in their Matchday 8 fixture this weekend, while Debibi United will aim to build on their important victory when they travel to face Bechem United.
