Hearts of Oak secured consecutive victories in the Ghana Premier League with a narrow 1-0 win over Vision FC, while Berekum Chelsea claimed their first away victory of the season by beating Heart of Lions 2-0.
The Phobians needed a late goal from Kwesi Asmah to secure all three points at the Nii Adjei Kraku Complex in Tema New Town on Saturday.
Asmah struck in the 86th minute after capitalising on a loose clearance inside the penalty area before firing home with his left foot.
The goal proved decisive in a closely contested encounter, extending Hearts of Oak’s winning run following their narrow victory over Port City.
The result moves Hearts to second place in the league standings with 14 points, while Vision FC remain 15th with six points.
Hearts will aim to continue their impressive form when they host Basake Holy Stars in their next league fixture, while Vision FC travel to face Dreams FC.
Elsewhere, Berekum Chelsea recorded an important 2-0 away victory over Heart of Lions at the Kpando Stadium to register their first win on the road this season.
Dramani Awuah opened the scoring in the 39th minute before Paul Attah Agyei doubled Chelsea’s advantage in the 69th minute.
The visitors proved clinical in front of goal, punishing Heart of Lions despite the hosts enjoying greater possession for periods of the match.
The defeat leaves Heart of Lions with consecutive losses, dropping them to 13th place with eight points. They will seek to return to winning ways when they travel to face Bibiani Gold Stars.
Chelsea, meanwhile, climb to seventh in the standings with 10 points and will look to build on their victory when they host FC Samartex in their next league fixture.
The remaining seven matches of Matchday Seven will be played at venues across the country on Sunday.
