Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren is set to take charge of the Black Stars on an interim basis for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Somalia in November.
The Swedish coach will lead a temporary technical team formed following the departure of Carlos Queiroz, who left his post after Ghana lost their opening two matches in the qualifiers.
Björkegren will be assisted by Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko and current Black Stars assistant coach Godwin Attram as Ghana seek to revive their campaign.
The interim team is expected to oversee the home-and-away matches against Somalia between 11 and 14 November 2026.
The arrangement will allow the Ghana Football Association's five-member coaching search committee more time to assess candidates before recommending a permanent successor to Queiroz.
Ghana began their qualifying campaign with a 2-0 defeat by Ivory Coast before suffering a 4-2 loss to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Those results have left the Black Stars bottom of Group C without a point, putting pressure on the team to secure positive results in their remaining fixtures.
Ghana are seeking a return to the continental showpiece after missing the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Following the Somalia fixtures, Björkegren is expected to return his attention to the Black Queens as they prepare for the first phase of the 2027 Women's World Cup qualifying play-offs.
