Ghana defender Marvin Senaya has resumed individual training as he continues his recovery from a muscle injury sustained during the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

The AJ Auxerre defender has returned to running on grass, marking an important step in his rehabilitation after being sidelined since Ghana’s Round of 32 encounter with Colombia in July.

Senaya’s injury has kept him out of action for the French club, forcing him to miss their first seven matches of the 2026-27 season.

His return to grass running will offer encouragement to Auxerre as the defender works towards regaining full fitness, although no official date has been set for his return to competitive football.

Auxerre have had to manage without the Ghana international during the opening weeks of the season, making his latest progress a welcome development for the club.

However, the resumption of individual training does not necessarily mean Senaya is close to returning to action, with further rehabilitation required before he can be cleared to resume competitive football.

The defender earned praise for his performances during the World Cup, establishing himself as an important figure for the Black Stars with his displays at the tournament.

His eventual return will be significant for both club and country, particularly as Ghana prepare for their upcoming international assignments.

The Black Stars will be hoping Senaya can complete his recovery without further setbacks and return to the level of performance he demonstrated during the global showpiece.
