Hearts of Oak head coach Nebojsa Kapor has warned his players against underestimating Vision FC ahead of their Ghana Premier League meeting, insisting that last season’s results will count for little when the sides meet on Saturday.
The Phobians will travel to the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema for their Matchday Seven fixture, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
Vision FC beat Hearts of Oak 1-0 last season, but Kapor believes changes to their squad and technical team, coupled with the artificial turf at the venue, will make Saturday’s encounter a different challenge.
“A lot of things are different because, as I told you several times, last season is last season. The next action is the most important,” he told the club’s media.
“We are approaching a lot of things to get more information, more readiness, and more confidence for every action that we are expecting.”
Despite Vision FC’s failure to win any of their last five league matches, Kapor has urged his players not to read too much into their recent form.
The Serbian tactician noted that Vision have made significant changes to their squad and are now under a different coach, factors he believes will require his side to prepare thoroughly for the encounter.
“They have changed a lot of players and have different energies. They have a good young squad, and I’m sure that must be far better preparation for us and a better approach because we are also playing on astroturf, and that can be a far different game for us, especially now. Also, they are going with a different coach,” Kapor added.
The Hearts coach also called on the club’s supporters to turn out in large numbers to support the team, stressing that their backing could prove crucial as the Phobians seek another positive result.
“I am really very happy to see you on the ground, and I’m calling on them to come in their numbers because their support is very important. Come support us; together we are stronger,” he said.
Hearts of Oak head into the fixture sitting second in the Ghana Premier League standings after beating Port City in their previous outing.
Kapor’s side will be hoping to build on that victory and maintain their early-season momentum as they continue their push for the league title.
