What a remarkable initiative by the Ghana Football Association to take the Black Queens to Sekondi College and Diabene SHS to interact with students and rally support ahead of their LA28 Olympic Games qualifier against Mauritius in Takoradi.
The excitement was evident on both sides. The players were thrilled, and the people of Takoradi, particularly the students, were equally delighted to meet their heroines, interact with them, and capture memorable moments.
Beyond the beautiful pictures and excitement, initiatives like this have a deeper impact on the team. They boost players’ confidence, lift morale, and reinforce the belief that they are not alone in the journey. Knowing that an entire community believes in you, supports yo,u and is cheering you on can make a significant psychological difference ahead of an important game.
That sense of connection and backing from home fans can be a powerful source of motivation when the players step onto the pitch.
And the Queens certainly responded in style! A magnificent 7-0 victory over Mauritius, sealing an impressive 10-0 aggregate triumph to book their place in the third round of the LA28 Olympic Games qualifiers. What a performance!.
A special mention to Kim Lars Björkegren for the impressive manner in which he continues to steer the affairs of the team. His relationship with the players is genuinely refreshing to witness. The bond, connection, and understanding are there for everyone to see. It is always a pleasure watching him engage with the team.
And to the GFA President, Kurt Okraku, kudos for making this happen and ensuring the Black Queens feel the love and support of the people of Takoradi.
Football is not just about what happens on the pitch. It is also about connection, inspiration, belonging, and making fans feel part of the journey.
The Queens felt the love, embraced the support, and delivered the victory. Takoradi showed up, and the Black Queens made it count!.
On to the next round. The journey to LA28 continues!
