Black Queens head coach Lars Kim Björkegren has acknowledged the difficulty of Ghana’s path to the 2028 Olympic Games but remains confident his team can secure a historic qualification.
Ghana advanced to the third round of the African qualifiers after recording a commanding 10-0 aggregate victory over Mauritius, having received a bye in the opening round.
The Black Queens will face Zambia in the next phase, scheduled to take place from 23 February to 6 March 2027.
Björkegren admitted that the competition for the limited qualification slots would be intense but believes Ghana have the quality to reach the global showpiece.
"We have the potential to go all the way,” he said.
"In football, there is no easy game, especially when it comes to qualifying for the Olympics, as only two countries from Africa will go to Los Angeles.
"It is really tough to get there; we need to win. I believe in the girls, and I think we [will] be there.”
Ghana are seeking to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time in the country's history.
The Black Queens will therefore be hoping to overcome Zambia and maintain their push for a place at the 2028 Games, which will be held in Los Angeles, United States.
