Charles Amofah elected vice president of African Bowling Federation

The African Bowling Federation (BFA) has elected Ghana’s Charles O. Amofah as Vice President as part of a new leadership team unveiled following its 2026 General Assembly.

The General Assembly elected General Ahmed Nasr of Egypt as President, while Ahmed Abdelhamid Gamal, also of Egypt, was elected Secretary General.

Nigeria and Ethiopia also participated in the electoral process through proxy votes, with their votes duly submitted in accordance with the arrangements for the General Assembly.

The newly elected Board Members are Sherif Abdel Moneim, a member of the Egyptian Bowling Federation; Khaled Meziou, President of the Tunisian Bowling Federation; and Babou Ponde, President of the Bowling Federation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The General Assembly also recognized the participation of Elvis Kargbo, President of the Sierra Leone Bowling Federation and a member of the General Assembly.

The meeting was further honoured by the presence of Mashoud Said, President of the Mauritius Bowling Federation, who attended as a distinguished guest.

In an official statement, the African Bowling Federation expressed its appreciation to all participating federations, delegates, members and guests for their attendance and valuable contributions to the General Assembly.

“The African Bowling Federation extends its sincere appreciation to all participating federations, delegates, members, and guests for their attendance and valuable contributions to the General Assembly,” the statement said.

The federation said the newly elected leadership and Board would work collectively to strengthen, develop and promote bowling across the African continent.

“The BFA looks forward to working collectively under its newly elected leadership and Board to further strengthen, develop, and promote the sport of bowling throughout the African continent,” the statement added.

Amofah’s election as Vice President gives Ghana representation at the leadership level of the continental body as the BFA begins a new administration following the General Assembly.

The General Assembly was held under the African Bowling Federation in 2026.
