2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Black Stars hold recovery training ahead of The Gambia clash on Tuesday

Ghana's Black Stars returned to training on Saturday as they stepped up preparations for their crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia.

Carlos Queiroz's side held a recovery and training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, less than 24 hours after returning from Bouaké, where they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Côte d'Ivoire in their opening Group C fixture on Thursday.

The session marked the beginning of the team's build-up to Tuesday's encounter, with the players keen to bounce back from their disappointing start to the qualifying campaign.

Having failed to pick up points in their opening match, the Black Stars know victory against The Gambia is vital to reignite their hopes of securing a place at the continental tournament.

Queiroz and his technical team are expected to use the remaining days to fine-tune tactics and assess the fitness of the squad before Monday's final training session.

Ghana will host The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT.

The Black Stars are bidding to return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing out on the previous edition in Morocco, ending a run of more than two decades of consecutive appearances at the tournament.

The 2027 AFCON will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
