WAFU B U-17 Cup: Joe Nana Adarkwa targets victory as Black Maidens face hosts Cote d'Ivoire in final

Black Maidens head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has vowed that his side will go all out for victory in their final WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup match against hosts Côte d'Ivoire despite acknowledging the difficult challenge that awaits his team.

Ghana face the Ivorians in a crucial encounter on Monday, September 28, with Adarkwa expecting a fiercely contested battle against a side he believes possesses both quality and physical strength.

The Black Maidens coach also recognised the advantage Cote d'Ivoire will enjoy with home support behind them but insisted Ghana are prepared to rise to the occasion.

"Cote d'Ivoire are a very good side and very strong physically," Adarkwa said ahead of the game.

"We know they are playing at home with their supporters, so we will map our strategy to beat them and take the three points."

With qualification and final standings potentially influenced by results elsewhere, Adarkwa stressed that his team cannot afford to focus on other matches and must instead concentrate on securing all three points.

"We don't know what will happen to Nigeria, so we have to win and move forward," he said.

"We are here for a win, nothing else. We will match them boot for boot."

The coach also praised the West African Football Union (WAFU) for staging the competition, describing it as an important part of Ghana's preparations and development programme at youth level.

"We are happy to be here. Without this tournament, we wouldn't have had such good preparation," he added.

"Thank you to WAFU for this wonderful tournament."

The Black Maidens will take on Côte d'Ivoire at 14:00 GMT, with Ghana aiming to end their campaign on a positive note and strengthen their hopes of progressing in the competition.
