2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Antoine Semenyo withdraws from Ghana squad with injury concern ahead of Ivory Coast and Gambia games

Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has withdrawn from Ghana's squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers because of an injury concern.

The 25-year-old was included in Carlos Queiroz's original 24-man squad for Ghana's opening Group C qualifier against Ivory Coast and their subsequent home fixture against The Gambia.

He was also due to be part of the squad for Ghana's international friendly against Morocco next month.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to announce a replacement for Semenyo.

His withdrawal follows those of Mohammed Kudus and Nathaniel Adjei, who have also pulled out of the squad because of injury concerns.

The latest change is another adjustment to Queiroz's squad ahead of his first competitive matches as Black Stars head coach.

Ghana have already made several changes to the original squad, with nine players added following medical concerns over some of the initial selections.

The Black Stars are continuing preparations at the Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Ivory Coast.

Ghana begin their qualifying campaign against Ivory Coast in Bouaké on 24 September, with the match taking place at the Stade de la Paix.

Queiroz's side will then host The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 27 September before travelling to Morocco for a friendly against the hosts at the Grand Stade de Tanger on 4 October.
