Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has joined French Ligue 1 side Nice on loan from Rennes.
The 26-year-old completed the move after negotiations extended beyond the main transfer window, with Nice seeking defensive reinforcements because of injuries to Antoine Mendy and Moise Bombito.
Seidu, who was part of Ghana's squad at the 2026 Fifa World Cup, had already held talks with Nice earlier in the summer before the move was eventually completed.
"I'd already spoken to the club during the summer. In the end, I've joined slightly later than planned but with an enormous amount of motivation," Seidu said.
"I want to play, to be on the pitch and to help the team and the club. I'm going to give everything to make sure that we have a good season together."
Nice President Maurice Cohen welcomed the Ghana international, praising his attitude and suggesting he would quickly settle into the squad.
"Alidu is a very good player with a great mentality, and we're certain that he'll adapt quickly and that he's a perfect fit for what the coach wants to put in place," Cohen said.
"He's in the prime of his life. I think that the fans will enjoy his style, and I know that he'll do great things with Le Gym."
Seidu's move comes as he begins a new chapter in France after his spell with Rennes.
He will now look to establish himself at Nice and earn regular playing time as the club manages its defensive injury problems.
The defender, however, was not included in Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz's squad for the Black Stars' opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ivory Coast and The Gambia, as well as the friendly against Morocco, all scheduled for September.
