Two Ghanaian boxers have been stripped of their continental titles by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and World Boxing Association (WBA) after failing to defend their belts.
Jonathan Tetteh, known as "Worldwide", has lost his WBA Africa light-heavyweight title, which he won after defeating Seth "Freezy Macbones" Gyimah at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.
Lightweight boxer Faisal Abubakar, whose professional record stands at 21 wins and one defeat, has also been stripped of his WBO Africa title.
Abubakar's trainer, Ernest Ofori, revealed that the title was withdrawn around two months ago, shortly after the Ghanaian suffered a controversial defeat in Germany.
The loss of their belts is expected to affect both fighters' positions in the world rankings, although boxing figures have urged the pair to remain focused and work their way back into title contention.
There was better news for Ghanaian boxing elsewhere, with Michael Abban of Black Panthers Boxing Gym moving into the top 15 of the rankings in the super flyweight and bantamweight divisions.
Abban, the Commonwealth Silver title holder, continues his rise as one of Ghana's highest-ranked active boxers.
